James A. Sethian Professor of Mathematics University of California, Berkeley
Topic:
Fast Solutions to Hamilton-Jacobi equatiuons: Ordered Upwind Methods and Mutliple Arrivals, with Applications to Seismic Imaging, Retinopathy Diagnosis, and Chemical Pathway Analysis.
Abstract:
I will discuss some past and recent work on efficient techniques to solve Hamilton-Jacobi equations, both for viscosity and non-viscosity solutions. These include the family of Ordered Upwind Methods and Escape Arrival Methods. The talk will discuss these techniques, and consider applications to seismic imaging, retinopathy diagnosis, and the analysis of chemical pathways and void accessibility in complex materials.
