2008 - Year of mathematics

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has been responsible for the Wissenschaftsjahre (Science Years) since 2000 together with the Initiative Wissenschaft im Dialog (Initiative for Scientific Dialog). 2008 is the Year of Mathematics, a program of events organized jointly with the Deutsche Telekom Foundation and the Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung (German Association of Mathematicians). Matheon is playing a key role in preparing and realizing the entire program as a member of the coordination committee for the Year of Mathematics.

Events involving Matheon

Matheon is organizing a series of activities and events on its own while participating in numerous other activities:

• MathFilm Festival (Organisation: Prof. Konrad Polthier et al.)
• The interactive exhibition "IMAGINARY" of the Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach with exhibits from the working group of Prof. Pinkall.
• June 16: "Long Night of Sciences" - the cleverest night of the year with numerous events organized by Matheon.
